This cookie policy explains which cookies and similar technologies cluedit.io uses, why, and how you can change your choice. It complements our privacy policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies, such as the browser’s session storage, work the same way. Some are needed for the site to work; others, such as analytics, may only be used with your consent (Section 155(4) of Act C of 2003 on Electronic Communications, and Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
How we ask
On your first visit, a banner asks you to accept or reject optional cookies, or to choose by category. “Accept all” and “Reject all” are equal choices. Until you choose, and after “Reject all”, the site loads nothing from Google or Clutch: Google Tag Manager, and with it Google Analytics, is loaded only after you accept, and Google Consent Mode is set to “denied” for everything by default. The one exception is spam protection: when you start filling in a contact form, the form loads Google reCAPTCHA, which is needed to send it (see the necessary cookies below).
We store your choice for six months. When our list of cookies changes, we ask again.
Change your cookie settings
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time: open the cookie settings, or use the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw analytics consent, we also delete the Google Analytics cookies from your browser.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the necessary cookie, the site can’t remember your choice and will ask again.
The cookies we use
Necessary (always on)
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
| cluedit_consent | cluedit.io | Remembers your cookie choice and its version | 6 months |
| wordpress_logged_in_*, wordpress_sec_*, wp-settings-* | cluedit.io | Only for our own editors when they sign in to manage the site; visitors never get them | End of session to 1 year |
| _GRECAPTCHA | google.com (Google reCAPTCHA) | Spam protection for the contact form: tells people from bots. Set only once you start filling in a form | 6 months |
Analytics (only with your consent)
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | cluedit.io (Google Analytics) | Distinguishes visitors, so we can count visits without knowing who you are | 2 years |
| _ga_<measurement ID> | cluedit.io (Google Analytics) | Keeps the state of your visit | 2 years |
| cluedit-attribution (session storage) | cluedit.io | Remembers the page you first arrived on and any campaign tags in the link, so the contact form can tell us which channel brought you | When you close the browser tab |
Google Analytics is provided by Google Ireland Limited through Google Tag Manager. It shows us which pages are read and which forms are used, as anonymous totals. We don’t send names, email addresses or other personal details to Google Analytics. More: how Google uses cookies.
Marketing (only with your consent)
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
| Clutch widget cookies | clutch.co and its service providers | Show our Clutch rating and reviews in the footer and count clicks to our Clutch profile | Set by Clutch; see Clutch’s privacy policy |
Without marketing consent, the footer shows a plain link to our Clutch profile instead, and nothing is requested from Clutch.
Changes
We update this policy whenever we add or remove a cookie, and raise the version of the cookie banner at the same time, so you’re asked again. The date at the top shows the latest version.
